What will your heart look like on judgement day?

This present world will pass away with fervent heat.  There will be a new heaven, and a new earth prepared for those who love the Lord.

But it’s like we are on trial now.  The accuser (devil) is bringing accusations against us, and he is saying that we are guilty as charged.  What is our response.

You say that I confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord.  And then he says, did you believe in your heart?  You can say all of the right things and sing all of the spiritual songs but where was your heart.  Did your life bear the fruit of repentance.

Lord, what do you require of me.  Is it a life of perfection.  That I cannot do.  I am a man.  In a sinful world.  Subject to all of the pulls it has on me.

Alas He says, I don’t require sacrifice.  The requirements of God are a broken and contrite spirit.

I rest my case.  I am broken; I am guilty as charged.  I am remorseful for having sinned against the.  I come to you now, with a contrite spirit wanting to sin no more. What a revelation.  It is our own sins and failures that bring us to Christ with a repentant heart.

That brings to mind the tax collector who felt he was not worthy to even lift up his head.  He was righteous in God’s eyes.

It’s not the sin that will keep us out of heaven, it’s the heart. Is our heart stained with bitterness and hate?  Is it filled with forgiveness and love.
