MOTHER'S DAY TRIBUTE

A TRIBUTE TO MOMS

As in everything I write it all comes from a Christian perspective. With that said, what is part and parcel of the calling of a mom.  Yes, we all have shortcomings as no one is perfect, but let’s put that aside and dive into the heart and mind and soul of all moms.

Right of the bat we all know that their children are highly loved, and moms want the very best for them.  If moms are guilty of anything they are overachieving in that area.  Meaning, they will sometimes go to any length, to put their children on the path of success.

What are the job qualifications for being a mom.  If you were applying for that position, what would be the qualifications that you would need, to be hired.  Picture an ad in the paper reading:  Wanted: mother.  Must be willing to work long hours and be on call, at all hours day or night.  Must be willing to get your hands dirty all the while making sure that the childrens hands (most of the time) are clean.  Much of your life must be put on hold.  Your aspirations and dreams are now turned toward your children.  That's not to say that you can't pursue a career, but your children trump everything. It's longer you who live, but after Christ, it is all about the children.

But that brings up a very important point.  The mother must be able to coach their children on to success without babying them or making them think more highly about themselves.  While they are served, they must be taught how to be a servant.  Yes, it is all about them in many ways, but it is teaching them to think of others.  As time goes on, they must be exposed to the realities of life.  This is all in good time.  Little by little precept upon precept.  It is certainly a balancing act.  This is one cardinal sign of a good mother.  Give unselfishly to them but at the same time teach them to give unselfishly to others.

There are no guarantees in life.  You do everything as unto the Lord and expect nothing in return, but a, "well done my good and faithful servant."  Having said that, the rewards are many.  As you give, the blessings come back to you over and over.  But again, the greatest blessing is knowing that you are true to the Lord and the work that He has called you to.  Make no mistake about it, motherhood is a high calling with tremendous responsibilities.

You may go to sleep at night exhausted. But as you drift off to sleep, rest in His arms, knowing that you have done the best that you can, asking Him to cover your shortcomings, and to bless your heart’s desires.

There is one last important qualification.  You must constantly call upon the Name of the Lord.  It is through His Strength, that you can stand.  It is through His Grace, that you can endure.  It is through His Wisdom, that directs you and your children on the right path.

All in all, if you are hired, you are a blessed woman.  There is no higher calling.
