Let your spirit strongarm your brain.

     You know that you are body mind and spirit.  We are a three part being.  The goal in each part is to maintain equilibrium.  There is a hierarchy here.  The spirit is supposed to be the dominant part in all of this.  The spirit has control over the mind, so it can maintain equilibrium. The spirit and mind are to influence and to help the body maintain its equilibrium.

     Now I can’t go any further without stating the importance of having a healthy spirit which is influenced by the Holy Spirit.  It’s critical to realize that the Holy Spirit doesn’t control us.  We have the free will to do as we please.  But as we open up ourselves to Him and desire to be as He is, He very much influences us to act in certain ways. 

     Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem, and he would send the comforter (The Holy Spirit).  If you don’t know how receive the Holy Spirit, I would say to search the scriptures you will find out all that you need.  Anyway, the Holy Spirit is just that, Holy.  I think, even though that is His name, we forget about the holy part, and are all in for the signs and wonders. 

     He is holy and He resides in us. We ask by our free will, “make us holy as you are holy.”  That is the key right there.  It’s a beautiful and awesome and wonderful thing to have the God of creation reside in you, just upon your asking by your free will, and he comes, and He shows you how to be holy as He is holy. 

     There are many people filled with demonic spirits.  That also is of their free will.  And as you pal around with those spirits, they teach you and influence you to be unholy.  Very simple.  There is a fine line there.  Only because we aren’t given too much insight of this world (save the scriptures) and it is easy to go that way.  The Bible does say that narrow is the way to life and broad is the way to destruction. 

     The Bible says that you will know them by their fruits.  The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness faithfulness and self-control.    Needless to say, the fruit of the demonic spirits is just the opposite.  No need to go there.

     I would like to tie this all in.  Can you imagine the beneficial effects of having a spirit filled with goodness.  It has a profound influence on your mind and body.  The peace that it brings is nothing like anything else.  Especially in the midst of trials and heartache.  There is an anchor, there is a harbor, there is “always” a place of safety.  We may not be safe from harm in this life, but no one can harm or even touch our spirit without our consent. 

     There you have it in a nutshell.  Actually, it’s not a case of your spirit strong arming your mind.  It’s your heart and mind and soul submitting freely to a righteous God through His Spirit in you.

Holy Spirit, I ask you to come and reside,

    In you and only in you, I desire to abide.

I am willing and you are more than able,

    I come and feast at your table.
